What T-money does best
T-money is the familiar all-purpose transport option. Korea Tourism Organization says it can be purchased at convenience stores and subway information centres and used across public transportation and at participating stores. For a traveller who simply wants to tap on and off buses and subways, it is easy to understand.
What WOWPASS adds
WOWPASS is designed specifically for foreign visitors. In addition to transport functionality, it combines prepaid card payments and currency-exchange features, with kiosks in airports, major subway stations and hotels.
Which one is better?
If you already have international cards that work well in Korea, T-money may be all you need. If you prefer loading travel money into a separate card and want the extra tourist features, WOWPASS can be convenient.
Can you use them outside Seoul?
T-money has broad use across Korean public transport. If your trip extends beyond Seoul, check the current accepted transport networks and top-up rules before relying on any one card.
Keep a little cash
Even on a highly cashless trip, having a small amount of Korean won is useful for top-ups or places where foreign cards are less convenient.
What to do after you land
Incheon is one of the easiest airports to set yourself up properly: mobile counters, bank/exchange counters and clearly designated taxi stands are all in the terminal.
SIM / eSIM
Incheon has SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ roaming/mobile counters in both terminals, including 24-hour counters in arrival areas. You can also arrive with an eSIM already installed.
Money & cards
Use official KB Kookmin, Hana or Woori bank exchange counters in the arrival halls. If you want one card that combines spending, currency exchange and transit, WOWPASS kiosks are available at major airports and require your passport. T-money can be purchased and loaded at convenience stores nationwide.
Airport taxi / transfer
Use only designated taxi stands. Incheon publishes the pickup zones: International Taxi / Smart Taxi uses 4C at Terminal 1 and 3C at Terminal 2; standard taxi zones are also clearly signed. Avoid unofficial solicitors.
Your first 15 minutes
Connect your phone, decide between T-money and WOWPASS, change/withdraw only the KRW you need immediately, then use the official taxi stand, AREX or airport bus depending on your hotel.
