1 day: a proper stopover
If you only have one full day, focus on one coherent route: Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, a heritage neighbourhood and a hawker-centre meal. Singapore’s transport system makes a short stay genuinely useful.
3 days: the first-trip sweet spot
Visit Singapore publishes a three-day itinerary, and that is a sensible benchmark. Three days gives you time for the Civic District or museums, neighbourhoods and food, Marina Bay, and either Sentosa or another interest-led day.
4 days: more relaxed
A fourth day is useful for Sentosa, family attractions, shopping, a slower food day, or exploring beyond the obvious first-time sights. The city becomes less of a checklist and more of a destination.
Should you combine Singapore with Malaysia?
Yes, especially if you have around six days or more. Singapore and southern Malaysia create useful contrast: futuristic cityscapes, heritage streets, Kuala Lumpur and highland or cultural stops can fit into one regional journey.

Do not spend your entire Singapore stay moving between headline attractions. Leave space for neighbourhoods and food — they are a large part of why the city is memorable.
What to do after you land
Changi makes arrival simple. You can buy data, get cash and choose between taxi, ride-hailing and MRT before leaving the terminal.
SIM / eSIM
Tourist SIMs from Singtel, StarHub and M1 are sold at Changi Recommends, Cheers, selected 7-Eleven stores and operator counters. Bring your passport for registration. eSIM is also available from providers.
Money & cards
ATMs from major banks are available 24 hours in the public arrival areas of all terminals. Money changers are also available in arrival halls. For public transport, contactless Visa/Mastercard and mobile wallets work, while EZ-Link cards are sold at Changi Recommends and airport rail service points.
Airport taxi / transfer
Taxis leave from the Arrival taxi stands in Terminals 1-4; fares are metered and airport surcharges apply. Grab, Gojek, Zig, Tada and other private-hire apps use designated Arrival / Ride-Hailing pickup points shown in the app.
