Dry season: April to October
Indonesia’s official tourism guidance describes April to October as the dry season across Bali. This is the easiest period for long outdoor days, beaches, temple visits, hiking and activities that depend on road or trail conditions.
Wet season: November to March
The wet season usually brings higher humidity and more frequent rain, but Bali remains warm. Rain does not necessarily last all day, and many travellers still enjoy the island during this period.
What about January?
January sits in the wetter part of the year, so a January itinerary should be designed with flexibility. Culture, food, temples, spa time and many tours still work well, while water activities and longer outdoor days benefit from backup plans.
Crowds matter too
Weather is only one part of choosing dates. Major holiday periods can be busier and more expensive. If you can travel outside peak school-holiday windows, you may get a calmer experience even within the dry season.
Choose the itinerary for the month
A Bali trip should adapt to the season. In wetter months, keep the schedule flexible and avoid overloading every day with outdoor activities. In drier months, take advantage of longer touring days and coastal time.
What to do after you land
Bali arrivals can feel busy, so decide your connection, money and transfer before stepping into the pickup area.
SIM / eSIM
If your phone supports eSIM, install it before departure. Otherwise, use an airport or authorized mobile counter after arrival and keep your passport available for registration.
Money & cards
Use bank ATMs for your first Indonesian rupiah. Indonesia Tourism recommends banks and authorized money changers and advises checking for official permit/QR identification. Avoid informal exchange offers even if the board rate looks unusually good.
Airport taxi / transfer
At Ngurah Rai Airport, use the official taxi counter in the arrival area / JPO area or follow the designated pickup instructions for your booked ride-hailing app. Do not accept random transport offers from people approaching you in the terminal.
Your first 15 minutes
Turn on data, withdraw a modest amount of IDR, confirm the official taxi or ride-hailing pickup point, and screenshot your villa/hotel name plus map pin before leaving Wi-Fi.
